COVID 19 UPDATE

EMAIL FROM THE BOARD MAY 15 2020

The Southgate Pool is scheduled to open at 8AM Monday May 18, 2020.  The following is the policy that will be followed until further notice.

Use of the amenities at Southgate at Carolina Forest is at your own risk.

If you do not feel comfortable using the amenities,  please don't.

The following rules and regulations are being adopted, temporarily, by the Southgate at Carolina Forest Board of Directors. Pursuant to DHEC’s guidelines for re-opening of amenities, these recommendations must be followed in order for the Pool and Playground to re-open and remain open. It is very important that these recommendations be adhered to, until further notice, so that we retain our DHEC permitting.

If the guidelines for these amenities cannot be followed, the Board of Directors of Southgate at Carolina Forest, reserves the right to close the Pool and Playground.

Guidelines for Pools

According to the SC DHEC Guidelines, the virus that causes COVID-19 cannot be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs, spas, or water play areas. However, the opportunity for transmitting the virus does exist in surrounding areas.  In addition to standard safe-practices, swimming pools should comply with the following guidelines to further minimize the potential for transmission and spread of COVID-19 in and around pools:

1.    The Southgate Pool will be limited to 34 people.  Please limit to RESIDENTS ONLY.

2.    Be considerate of others in the pool and give them space.

3.    If you have any symptoms of COVID-19, whether you have tested positive or not, you should stay home.

4.    Anyone with known exposure to COVID-19 or who has tested positive for COVID-19 should not use the facility and should self-isolate at home.

5.    Practice social distancing of at least six feet, to the extent possible. Person-to-person interaction and activities between members of separate households should be limited and social distancing of six feet between them should be practiced. A lounge chair is approximately 6’ in length and can be used as a guide for social distancing requirements.

6.    Wash your hands frequently. You should bring your own hand sanitizer and wipes.

7.    Bring your own chairs.  Chairs will be out, but if  you feel uncomfortable, USE YOUR OWN CHAIRS. Disinfect frequently touched objects. You should bring your own sanitizer and wipes to disinfect the tables and chairs for your personal use while at the pool. With your own supplies disinfect your hands after using surfaces such as doors, handrails, ladders, gates, lawn chairs, drinking water fountains which are to be used for filling of water bottles only, picnic tables, etc. Bring a wipe in with you when you use the bathrooms. If the handicap chair is needed to enter the pool, disinfect it before and after use.

8.    Avoid touching of eyes, nose, and mouth. Cover your nose and mouth when you sneeze or cough.

9.    Strongly consider wearing a mask when outside of the pool.

It is in everyone’s best interest to diligently follow the guidelines.
